My father was on expensive medications for high blood pressure & high cholesterol. He had no insurance & was not eligible for any programs that would have paid for his medications or reduced their cost. For a time, he borrowed money from relatives to buy his medicine, but eventually, he decided that if he could not afford the medications on his own, he would do without them. He died of his first heart attack at the age of 48.
