Names of the Dead

I am a nurse. so healthcare and services to the health impaired are important to me. Even beyound basic care, are the lack of benefits to the blind, the hearing impaired and the elderly, who have health needs. I attended a "family night" at a program for deaf addicts, who for the most part were addicts BECAUSE they were deaf and received little love, care, education or health benefits. An eighteen year old black boy was the only one who had no family show up. He had eagerly waited for his mother to come- she never did. He gave an agonal cry that came from a depth of anguish I have never known in my 63 years. Three days later,he committed suicide. This young man badly needed mental health counseling AND medical care to heal his abused childhool, drug addiction brought on by the pain of dealing with his abuse, and lack of hearing aids and deaf education , and his general poor health. Where were we, America?
