Ours is not a story of the uninsured but a story of a family that struggled with endless medical bills even with insurance. It is about how year after year of endless co-pays and deductibles finally built up to the point of doctors "dropping" us as patients due to nonpayment. My husband went for many years without his cholesterol medicine because we could not make the co-pays. Then while trying to save up enough money to meet the admission payment requirements for necessary heart surgery and to pay off a previous hospital bill, my husband died of a heart attack on February 12, 2006.
