For years, my sister and brother in law were without insurance. Only a year ago, thanks to finally landing a job with decent coverage, my sister's husband was able to finally make an appointment with a doctor to address a nagging ache in his stomach that he'd had for some time. Long story short, his body was riddled with cancer--the discovery coming too late to do anything about it. Had he been covered a year prior, the cancer would have been caught at an early stage and he would be alive today. RIP, Mike.
