Laura Lynne Prater writes:
In honor of my Daddy, William K Memory, Sr. He died 3/9/07 after being admitted for pneumonia they found lymphoma and for the next 2wks he was given agressive treatment in spite of hopeless prognosis, and we lost him. But the associated costs involved with this treatment all but wiped out his entire life's savings, leaving my mother devastated in every way possible and still shoulder the additional worry of how she at 85 would be able to live out the rest of her days while maintaining her independence. My daddy was a WWII Naval Veteran, worked long hard hours hauling heavy equipment all his life for subpar wages, raised four children, and never in my life have I met a person with more love and pride of country and service. He tried to instill these values in his children, but it makes it difficult to be proud of a country who allows people to suffer and die and financially decimate the loved ones they leave behind!
