Michael Sidky writes:
Bob was a dear friend who committed suicide two weeks ago because he lost his Health Care. The Insurance Company canceled him because he was costing them too much, so his coverage was dropped. - Bob could no longer afford to continue his treatments because of obscene fees and could not afford to pay his bills also. He did not want to be a burden on anyone. He fell into a terrible depression which he kept a secret from his friends. A couple of weeks ago he got in his truck, took a short drive from his home and shot himself in the chest. It was a shock to us all. - - Mr. Grayson, thank you for your wonderful work and having the courage to speak for all the MILLIONS who have no access to health care. You are the voice of the 122 people who die each and every day and the Million who file bankruptcy each and every year. - Your numbers are verified by the Harvard University study and each day as the country debates back and forth another 122 people will Die. Each and every day. How can we possibly call ourselves the greatest nation on earth if we cannot take care of the well being of our own people? - Why is it the Greedy Insurance companies, aside from Major League Baseball, are the only industry exempt from the Anti-Trust Laws? - Why do we have to pay 25 Dollars for a single Tylenol Pill, 2500 Dollars for a short ten minute ambulance ride to the ER, or 1500 Dollars a night for a Hospital bed? Just the bed! - - Mr. Grayson, the ONLY way we can achieve true Health Care reform is with a strong Public Option. Otherwise it is no more than just expanded coverage. A Public Option will create fairness and TRUE competition in this market. It will force the Insurance Companies who have been raping the public for generations to compete and become honest. - More people die each month from lack of Health Care than in the 911 tragedy. 911 was a one time Tragedy. - What we have now is a National tragedy each month that is totally preventable. Please urge your colleagues to support a Strong Public Option. This may be the only time in our life we can do something for the American people. You will secure yourself a place in the History of our nation and in the State of Florida as the first person in Washington who had the courage and dignity to speak up on the behalf of all Americans. Please remember we support you 100 percent in your effort to bring REAL Health Care Reform to our country. - Thank you and keep up the great work, service and dedication to our nation. - Michael Sidky, Ph.d - Port St. Lucie, Florida -
