Ken Bird

Mitch Bird writes:

My father was a veteran of the Korean War. He spent many years aboard US Submarines in the 50's. He told me that he could remember seeing Asbestos glistening in the air while on board. I know what that is like because i worked for a company, in Orlando, that made rubber parts that was (according to people who worked there) paying off OSHA and so I too have seen the glistening dust of Asbestos in the air and know exactly what it is like. He got Mesothelioma, which is a cancer caused by exposure to Asbestos dust in the air. The very Asbestos that he was exposed to while serving his country in the United States Navy. He had coverage through his retirement, but Mesothelioma is generally a death sentence. The first surgery was brutal and he said he would rather die than go through it again. The government should have provided some kind of compensation to these fine men's families who died from being onboard 50's era submarines but they never did. Years later they treated the VietNam era vets exposed to Agent Orange the same way. I miss my dad. I bet you would too... Americans have a right to be treated fairly by their government and not swept aside like the trash and Americans have a RIGHT to health care.
