My sister worked for a small business that did not offer health benefits and barely paid minimum wage. She started having some health issues including what she thought to be hemmoroids. She simply couldn't afford to see a doctor for what she thought was an "over the counter" condition. She waited for a full year before they became really bad. Susan was diagnosed with anal cancer. I can't help but believe, had she had insurance, she never would have delayed treatment. She died November 7, 2004.
